Liberals deny to others what they demand for themselves

The old saying goes, liberals want to "have their cake and eat it, too." This is seen time and again as they use deceit and duplicity to deny to others what they demand for themselves. A few examples:

Liberal clergymen have been involved in the political process for decades. When conservative ministers began engaging the culture war they were told it violated the "separation of church and state." Why is it that when a liberal minister is engaged in the political process he is doing his civic duty but when a conservative minister does the same thing he is violating the First Amendment?

Take the pro-choice argument. Liberals argue passionately for a woman’s "freedom of choice" when it comes to killing her unborn baby. They then turn around and deny that same mother the freedom to choose which school her born children may attend.

Nothing stirs the ire of liberals any more than the school voucher program. Listening to the howls of liberals you would think that giving parents the freedom to choose which schools their children attend is the worst thing that could happen to Western Civilization. They falsely argue that giving tax credits or vouchers to parents for their child’s education is tantamount to government supported religion. Never mind that our government is currently supporting the religion of Secular Humanism, which is modern America’s State Church.

Isn’t it interesting that tax dollars currently support chaplains in both houses of congress and in the nation’s military? Go back into the history books and you will find that state governments supported a variety of religious activities in the early years of our country’s existence. Yes, Martha, the men that instituted those practices within the states were the same ones that wrote and ratified the First Amendment to the federal constitution. We often forget that the prohibitions of the First Amendment were intended for the federal government.

Liberals want to deny parents the freedom to choose their children’s schools. They must believe that the public schools cannot keep pace with private schools. So, why don’t they insist that public education be improved? That, too, is anathema to a liberal. You see, the purpose of public schools to the liberal mind is not to provide Johnny with a good education, it is to indoctrinate Johnny in their secular humanist ideology. To a liberal, it is much more important what Johnny thinks than what he knows.

Consider the food stamp program. This is one of liberals’ favorite social programs. But, notice how it works. Financial benefits in the form of food stamps are provided to the individual family that then chooses where to spend them. That, in essence, is a food voucher program.

Let’s apply the same principle to the food voucher program that liberals use in the school voucher program. The government would have to build government supported grocery stores. They would hire government trained grocery clerks. They would sell only government produced goods. There would be no inspections of the public food dispensers, no quality assurance tests. Recipients of the food vouchers would not be allowed the freedom to choose which store they shopped; they would be required to shop only at the public shopping center.

This makes as much sense as their argument against school vouchers. In fact, that is the argument against school vouchers! Ridiculous, isn’t it? Remember, again, that the goal is not education, it is indoctrination. Abraham Lincoln said, "the philosophy of the classroom in one generation is the philosophy of the government in the next."

This is what liberals want: control over what America’s children learn. Therefore, anything that gives more freedom of choice in the area of education is viewed as a threat to the liberal elite’s power and influence. After all, if parents ever realize that their children can get a better quality education in a non-public school and enroll their children in those schools the children just might learn some politically incorrect things in the process.

They might come to believe that man is created and not evolved. They might come to believe that there is a God and mankind is accountable to Him. They might come to believe that there are moral absolutes that govern the conduct of human behavior. They might actually get their sex education at home. They might come to honor and revere America’s Founding Fathers. And, they might just come to the realization that liberalism is bunch of hogwash.

Therefore, liberals do what liberals do best: use deceit and duplicity to deny to others what they demand for themselves.
